Terms of sale, refunds and privacy

These terms cover founding-member plans for sOwnit, sold before sOwnit launches. "We" and "us" means Travis Smiley, doing business as sOwnit. "You" means the person or business buying a founding plan.

Terms of sale

What you are buying

A founding plan is a prepaid first 12 months of sOwnit on the plan you choose (Starter, up to 3 users, or Professional, up to 10 users), at the founding price shown when you pay. Your 12 months begin on the day sOwnit launches and your account is opened, not on the day you pay.

Price and payment

You pay the full founding price once, in US dollars, through Stripe. Stripe processes the payment; we never see or store your card number. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. We do not currently charge sales tax on founding plans; if a tax becomes due, we will tell you before charging anything more.

Launch

We are aiming to launch on November 30, 2026. We will email founding members with progress and with the confirmed launch date. If sOwnit has not launched by January 31, 2027, we will offer every founding member a full refund, and you choose whether to take it or to keep waiting.

What sOwnit includes

sOwnit is software for running a small business: online booking, scheduling, estimates and invoices, payments, customer records and team access, in English and Spanish. Features may change and improve before and after launch. Your plan will include at launch at least the features described on the founding-member page for that plan.

After your first 12 months

Nothing renews automatically. Before your 12 months end, we will tell you the price to continue, and you decide whether to continue.

Not an investment

A founding plan is a purchase of software service. It does not give you shares, ownership, profit, voting rights or any other stake in sOwnit.

Your account and your data

Your business's records in sOwnit belong to you. No other business on sOwnit can see them. Separate terms of service and a privacy notice for using the software itself will apply from launch, and we will send them to you before your account opens.

Our responsibility

If we cannot provide what you paid for, our responsibility is limited to refunding what you paid us. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the law that cannot be waived.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, United States.

Refunds

• Before launch: a full refund, any time, for any reason. Email us at hello@sownit.net from the address you paid with, and we will refund the full amount you paid to the card or account you paid with.
• If launch slips past January 31, 2027, we will offer everyone a full refund, as above.
• For 30 days after launch: if sOwnit is not right for you, ask within 30 days of launch day and we will refund the full amount. After that, founding plans are not refundable.
• We aim to process a refund within 5 business days of your request. Your bank may then take several days to show it.

Privacy

What we collect

• When you buy a founding plan: your name, your business's name, your email address, the plan you bought and what you paid. Stripe collects your payment details and gives us only the last four digits and the type of card, never the full number.
• When you ask for launch updates: your email address.
• When you visit this site: our hosting provider keeps standard technical records of requests (such as your IP address and the time) to keep the site running and secure. This site uses no advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

To take and record your payment, to open your sOwnit account at launch, to send you receipts, launch updates and anything about your plan, and to handle refunds. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

Stripe processes payments. Our email and hosting providers carry our messages and serve this site. Each handles your information only to provide that service to us.

How long we keep it

Payment records are kept as long as the law requires for business and tax records. If you only asked for launch updates, we keep your email until you unsubscribe or we launch, whichever comes first.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to stop sending you updates, by emailing hello@sownit.net. Every update email also has a way to unsubscribe.
